Emily

Welcome to the very first episode in our Deconstruction podcast series. In this episode, Michael Chesterman and Emily Taylor interview Kate Raymond, General Manager - Advocacy & Policy at Master Builders Qld. Kate talks to the new requirements for liveable housing design included in the National Construction Code 2022, which will apply from October 2023. While an important and necessary cause, Kate speaks to the challenges faced by builders to comply in a short implementation period and the Master Builder's request for this implementation date to be extended by government. Recording just days before the first builder with active project trust accounts went into administration, Kate also queries whether the effectiveness of the new trusts regime will outweigh the administrative burden on contractors.
